Hello! I am a 3D Design and Craft graduate and visual merchandiser, but mostly I am a super proud member of the amazing Rock Paper Scissors team! I have previously worked with galleries producing education content, events and activities for young people. I have a constant need to make, discover and learn new stuff. My favourite artist is Grayson Perry, I love anything with Snoopy on, pizza, Drag Queens and Harry Styles.

My own creativity

I refer to myself as a bit of a jack of all trades as I am always trying my hand at new skills and materials. My own creativity is a combination of play and intuition which is something I love to encourage in our Rock Paper Scissors artists. I like to test materials, use them in unconventional ways and experiment. I really love hands on making and getting messy. I like to not focus on the end products and instead appreciate the process and see where that takes me.

What inspires me

Our artists are always inspiring me. There’s nothing more inspiring than the brilliance of young creative minds and the way they see the world. I’ve held onto a child-like inquisitiveness as a supposed grown up. I’m constantly curious about the world around us from my own back garden to any museum I can get my nose in. I love to bring this out of our artists, helping them to see the beauty and wonder in everything.

My favourite project

My favorite project so far was the Open Studio we held in February. There was just the best atmosphere with parents and kids all making and creating together. It really bought together the whole essence of the Rock Paper Scissors community with all kinds of amazing stuff created along with so much fun being had.

A stand out moment

The stand out moment for me was during working with the Young carers group at the museum. It really stood out to me how important the time they had with us was. Time entirely for themselves to be themselves. I feel so lucky to work with such amazing little artists and help them not only make art but find an outlet personal to them.

Why I do this

The fear of art and arts education not being readily available to every one is always a huge motivation for me. I am also passionate about the way we can express emotions and things we just can’t put into words through creating. I want to encourage this and empower young people to use art as a tool of communication and personal expression. I have found art and creating a form of therapy for myself, in times of stress or worry creating something channels that negative energy into something positive. I want to bring this out in others, especially during these times with young people filled with confusion, worry and uncertainty they don’t fully understand or how to express.

The future

In the future I would love Rock Paper Scissors to have its own space. A space that workshops could run all day long, a pure hub of creativity filled with supplies and artwork made by all our amazing artists! I know it would be more than a studio, it would be a haven and safe space for so many people to be part of. Rock Paper Scissors has helped and inspired so many people and this is only beginning!
