Chloe Peacock
Hello! I’m Chloe, and I am co-director of RPS. My day job is a hospital based doctor for the NHS, and I have four children. RPS is my creative outlet, a chance to come up with ideas and see them through to completion, shaping them along the way. Reducing waste and doing more with less is at the heart of everything we do, and I’ve been heavily influenced to be an eco warrior by my Dad who did it when it definitely wasn’t cool in the 80s, and now by my children, especially Finn. It inspires me to try new things with my children, and work on projects alongside them, experimenting and compromising! I love process art, where the emphasis isn’t on the outcome, as it builds confidence in children and is so enjoyable. Spending time with my children making art together is (mostly) relaxing, and a chance to communicate without pressure.
What inspires me
Bold colours, african patterns, street art, travel, fabric and books.
My favourite projects
Usually the ones I pester Lulu about for aaages like a whingey child until she relents. I also loved treehouse building, pattern making, and all of the book related projects we have done.
Why I do this
My eldest son is obsessed with art, doodling all the time, and no matter how hard I looked, I couldn’t find any after school or holiday clubs for young artists. I realised that there must be heaps of other families looking for high quality creative activities. It just so happened that I knew an amazing art teacher....and it went from there!
A stand out moment
Starting Saturday Art Club at Ipswich Museums was a long held goal of Lulus and mine, from going to the art classes there as children. It was a great feeling to start it again and for it to be so popular. Its also lovely to share it with my children.
The future
Our own space - to give us the freedom to do more community events and try new things, reach more families.
